CalSens
CalSens combines photonics technology and fiber optic sensors to measure temperature, vibrations, and deformations in infrastructures, offering continuous and reliable structural diagnostics.
CalSens is a spin-off founded by researchers from iTEAM and ICITECH that develops photonic sensors integrated into optical fiber for real-time monitoring of critical works and infrastructures. The technology employs sensors of various sizes and properties, without the need for local electrical power thanks to the use of optical fiber, which eliminates electromagnetic interference and minimizes wiring complexity.
Its technology allows measuring temperature, deformations, vibrations, displacements, and natural modes of structures, even under extreme conditions such as fires or areas with high interference; thus, it covers the entire cycle, from the design and manufacture of specific sensors to data recording and decision-making during construction or maintenance.
With a validated scientific approach and deep technological transfer, CalSens provides engineers and authorities with a robust, scalable, and continuous tool that strengthens safety, protects heritage, and optimizes infrastructure management; its mission is to turn structural monitoring into an intelligent and preventive standard.
