Support for Public Procurement of Innovation
We connect university research with the needs of the public administration, facilitating participation in Public Procurement of Innovation processes and transforming knowledge into real solutions
The Public Procurement of Innovation is the mechanism used by the public administration to promote innovation within the framework of public procurement legislation, with two modalities: Pre-Commercial Public Procurement (PCP), which allows for R&D projects, from which prototypes are normally obtained, and Public Procurement of Innovative Technology (PPI), which involves the completion of developments and the acquisition of new products.
The process is usually lengthy because it goes through a stage of identifying needs, a stage called Preliminary Market Consultation (PMC) in which the needs are published, and the actual tender that regulates the purchase (PCP or PPI).
UPV innovación develops relationships with various administrations that may require university experts to assist them in formulating needs.
It also monitors PMC publications, informing researchers about them and helping them prepare proposals, even seeking a business partner.
Likewise, it monitors the conclusions of the PMC and provides assistance to researchers to participate in tenders, whether PCP or PPI, usually as subcontractors of companies.
