UPV Innovation Forum 2026 | Spring - Side Event
“Research Security and Deep Tech”
The UPV Innovation Forum is the benchmark meeting between researchers, entrepreneurs, and RDI agents of the innovative ecosystem of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). Its aim is to showcase and strengthen UPV’s commitment to innovation.

Throughout 2026, the initiative presents a series of UPV Innovation Forum events. The winter forum focuses on showcasing UPV’s innovation stories and achievements from 2025, continuing with two other Side Events: one in spring (June 18) dedicated to research security and deep tech, and the next in autumn, focusing on innovation and transfer (date to be determined).
“A few years ago, talking about geopolitics in a university setting sounded like an exaggeration. Not anymore. Through various events, at UPV Innovación we have been following this evolution closely. First, by looking at the ecosystem deep tech and what technological sovereignty means for a country. Then, with a debate on how the relationship between knowledge, power and hegemony has changed, and what it means for us to have a presence and influence in relevant research areas. The common thread running through all of this has been crystallising into a concept that already appears in European policy documents: research security. It is the tool that makes it possible to position oneself in defence RD or in the export control system. That is what the Spring Side Event of UPV Innovación is about.”
Fernando Conesa, Director of UPV Innovación
Aimed at
Teaching and Research Staff, research and development managers, UPV innovation agents, personnel from its entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem, professionals and management staff from companies and organizations linked to the University and the Valencian innovation system, as well as collaborating public bodies.
