The UPV collaborates with companies and administrations in the joint development of research, development, and innovation projects that allow organizations to access the university’s knowledge and technological capacity, promoting customized solutions and process improvements with high scientific and technical impact.
To undertake innovation in the company, it is often necessary to carry out RD Projects that provide it with the competitive advantage of exclusive knowledge.
The UPV develops a relevant research activity and can participate in business R projects in two ways: subcontracted by the company (through the provision of an R service specified by it and for which it receives a price), or in collaboration with the company when there are jointly defined objectives and the work, risk and benefit is shared.
In subcontracting with the company, the relationship is regulated by an RD contract that establishes the ownership and exploitation of the results; in addition, there is public funding that the company can access to cover this cost. Regarding the collaboration model, the entity and the UPV must formalize an agreement between the parties that regulates the rights over the results and their exploitation.
A reference for collaborative projects are the European projects of the RD framework programs. The UPV has achieved a prominent position in these programs. Consult the H2020 and Horizon Europe Projects in which UPV has participated in recent years.
